Five instruments in one mast — wind, rain, temperature, humidity and pressure

A complete five-in-one weather station: a single outdoor mast houses an anemometer, wind vane, rain gauge, thermometer and hygrometer, feeding a large colour display that also works out feels-like, dew point and heat index — from a brand making weather instruments since 1943.

For the gardener or hobbyist who wants a proper station without the WiFi and subscriptions.

The Iris is a full weather station without the complexity: one outdoor 5-in-1 mast measures wind speed and direction, rainfall, temperature and humidity, and the barometer sits in the console, so you get the complete picture from a single sensor. Beyond the raw figures it does the maths for you — heat index, dew point and feels-like temperature — on a large, dimmable colour display, and it needs no WiFi, app or subscription, from a brand that has built weather instruments since 1943.

AcuRite Iris (5-in-1) Wireless Weather Station

[object Object]

What lifts it above a plain readout is the interpretation. As well as the measured numbers, it calculates the heat index, the dew point and the feels-like temperature — the figures that actually tell you how the day will feel and whether the washing will dry. And it does all of this on its own: there's no WiFi to join, no app to install and no subscription to read your own weather, which many owners prefer. AcuRite (Chaney Instruments) has made weather instruments since 1943, and the Iris is their dependable, offline all-rounder. If you do want online access and phone alerts, the Ambient WS-2902 is the WiFi step up.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need WiFi or a subscription?

No. The Iris is a self-contained station — the outdoor sensor talks straight to the colour console, with no app, account or subscription to read your weather. That independence is a big reason people choose it over WiFi stations.

What does the 5-in-1 sensor actually measure?

In one outdoor mast it houses an anemometer (wind speed), a wind vane (direction), a rain gauge, a thermometer and a hygrometer. The barometer is in the console, so together you get wind, rain, temperature, humidity and pressure from a single unit.

What are heat index, dew point and feels-like?

They're calculated comfort figures the console works out from the raw readings — how hot it truly feels, how humid the air is, and the effective temperature. They tell you more about the day than the plain thermometer alone.

Where should I mount the outdoor sensor?

On a pole in the open, level and clear of buildings and trees, so the wind isn't sheltered and the rain isn't funnelled. Clear leaves from the rain collector and check the wind cups spin freely each season.

How long does delivery take?

Your delivery estimate for your address is shown at checkout before you pay. Delivery is free UK-wide on orders over £30, with a flat £3.99 charge under that.

AcuRite Iris: a full weather station, no WiFi required

4 min read Skygauge

The Iris is a capable offline station; the install makes or breaks the accuracy of its wind and rain.

Mount the mast in the open

Fix the 5-in-1 sensor level on a pole, clear of walls, fences and trees. Sheltered wind and funnelled rain are the classic ways to get misleading data — height and openness matter most.

Read the derived figures

Don't stop at the raw temperature. The feels-like, dew point and heat index tell you how the day will actually feel and behave — that interpretation is what sets the Iris apart from a plain readout.

Service it each season

Clear leaves from the rain funnel and check the wind cups spin freely, and keep the console's backup batteries fresh so a power cut doesn't wipe your clock and settings.
